Job Description:
An Appliance Service/Installation Technician performs all the activities necessary to handle products in the customer’s home or Karl’s shop in regard to installation, repair and maintenance. This includes the ability to drive Upper Midwest service vehicles. The position requires the ability to handle large and bulky items as an individual or with assistance as and when necessary. Interaction with customers through assistance at the store, but primarily in the customer’s home is necessary. The position requires the ability to manage time efficiently and to put safety and care for one’s self, our customer’s property and our merchandise at a premium at all times. This position is often the last point of contact on a sale or deals with customer frustration because of repair needs, so good customer service skills, including a proper professional appearance, are necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair and Service major appliances
- Deliver and do basic installation of appliances in residential, apartment, condominium, and office settings as required
- Load and unload customer products as necessary
- Conducting parts inventories with Store team as necessary
- Assistance to sales team to help install product for floor display
- Maintenance of the service shop orderliness
- Prepare and verification of appropriate paperwork and invoices throughout the installation or service process, including recording of serial numbers for inventory control.
- Inspect product slated for your installations to ensure product is not damaged.
- Prepare product for installations using appropriate measures such as use of blankets and strap dollies to ensure no damage.
- Use protective items in the customers home or business to ensure we do not damage the property
- Installation of washers, dryers, refrigerators water lines connections Gas lines determined by location
- Ensuring paperwork with serial numbers is turned into the Store Manager or Store Clerical for immediate invoicing upon completion of installation or repair services.
- Maintain the vehicle in a clean and orderly manner both inside and out.
- Miscellaneous Duties as assigned

Work experience requirements:
- Excellent driving habits and good driving record
- Able to lift 75 lbs. consistently throughout the day
- Able to use hand trucks and dollies efficiently
- Knowledge of large appliance operation and repair
- Knowledge of electrical, gas and plumbing connections
- Experience with computer for invoicing and look-up
- Excellent customer service demeanor
